Formed in 1999, the Northern Virginia-based Iona Sky features a unique blend of musical styles. With influences ranging from 70's progressive rock to current alternative and pop music, Iona Sky weaves a tapestry of eclectic, yet fresh and immediately accessible sounds.
The band released their first CD, Letterbox, in 2001. The CD was produced by the band and recorded and mixed by drummer Terry Meeks at Sector7G Recording. Most of the songwriting duties were handled by Larry, with Olivia also contributing several songs. The final arrangements of the songs were a collaborative effort on the part of the entire band.
Letterbox has gotten rave reviews, as have the band's live shows in the Washington DC area.
Update 09/10/08:
Iona Sky is on hiatus right now, for various reasons. In the meantime, Terry and Bill have started a side project that is decidedly "prog" in nature. They have almost an entire CD worth of music prepared, and plan to begin recording soon. Check back for future updates.
